Augsburg 1520 Board Game

(GAME SUMMARY)

Drake says: "In Augsburg 1520, players assume the role of the merchants from Augsburg and try to get what they can (by means of auctions) from the nobility, thus increasing their wealth and particularly their social status. After a number of rounds (dependent on the number of players) scores are tallied."

(TIPS/COMMENTS)

John says: "A deeper game of strategy is revealed with each repeat play. Excellent with 5 players! The "victory points" goal of the game seems common, but it's actually quite novel."

Designer:

Karsten Hartwig

Description:

In the 16th century, Jakob Fugger organized Augsburg into an impressive trading power. He possessed so much money that he could generously lend it to emperors and kings. In response, he received numerous privileges such as commercial laws, offices and honors -- and thus became increasingly wealthy.

The players take on the role of "Jakob the Rich". Who will lend his money most skillfully and enhance his prestige the most?
